Sharyl Diveley Terhall holds a Bachelor of Social Work and a Masters of Science in Social Work from University of Texas at Arlington, and she has been a licensed social worker in the state of Texas since 2001. Ms. Terhall is designated as a Licensed Master Social Worker with Independent Practice Recognition by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners.
Ms. Terhall began her child welfare career as a Child Protective Services Specialist for the State of Texas in 1995, during which time she conducted investigations, foster and adoptive parent assessment and training, and participated in all practical and legal aspects of permanency planning for children in care. During this time, Ms. Terhall acquired expertise in Texas Health and Human Services Child Placement Guidelines and Texas Family Code statutes related to child placement, which she has since exercised as a CPS Contractor and Court-Appointed Adoption Evaluator.
In 2002, Ms. Terhall was fortunate to be given the opportunity to serve North Texas children and families as a Family Court Counselor in the Dallas County Domestic Relations Office. During this time she conducted child custody evaluations, adoption evaluations, and emergency child interviews for the Family and Juvenile Courts, in addition to providing adoptive parent training, family mediation services, and expert testimony related to her evaluations.
Along with an unwavering commitment to child welfare, Ms. Terhall brings this experience to her private non-clinical practice, which she began in 2013. Ms. Terhall has completed over 700 child custody and adoption evaluations since 1995, and she is qualified to conduct these evaluations pursuant to Texas Family Code Sections § 107.104 and § 107.154. Ms. Terhall has conducted over 100 mediations since she was trained as a family law mediator in 2002. Ms. Terhall is a trained Parent Facilitator and Parent Coordinator who is qualified pursuant to Texas Family Code Sections § 153.6101 and §153.610. Ms. Terhall also provides Coparenting Coaching and Coparenting Consultation services to assist families in effectively managing coparenting communications to avoid litigation and coparent in their child's best interest.
